Hey Jim! I'm tying up a bunch of these to skirt ballyhoo on a dredge for Marlin fishing, Do you prefer more or less skirting? I'm using Mylar, Crystal flash, and flashabou. I'd appreciate any pointers.

Step one don't start with that POS yummy get yourself a real California flyer or something close. Don't forget to mushroom the end on the mono with a lighter before you crimp! If you're fishing for cows I recommend using chafe tubing. Fresh dead will outfish these POS yummy everyday. Now just learn how to fly a kite.

You can use it over and over. It never rusts in my tackle bag. I use a knot less snell with a 25 lb mono filament leader line from Kastking for this hook. Its point is very sharp and can easily land a thieving fish. We landed many catfish with this hook. Best purchased in packs of 25 which should last you throughout the season.*

I fish with at least 20 inches of wire and still get occasional cut off. This rig is better than just pure mono or fluoro, but in no way it is "wahoo-proof". Most of big fish will cut it off.

Can you cast and retrieve with any of the bigger ones?

Depending upon the conditions they catch fish when trolled from barely moving to about 8.5 knots. Some people pull them even faster.
